Folk and Love

Some projects begin with a brief. This one began almost twenty years earlier.

Folk & Love was created by Brazilian musicians Rod Pancine and Daniela Torres, but its story started long before the name existed. We first played music together while studying journalism in Campinas, São Paulo. Over the years came bands, more than 150 original songs, a move to Canada, two kids, and a creative connection that somehow kept finding its way back to music.

Folk & Love became a way of giving that history a home.

The idea was simple: create a Brazilian-Canadian folk project built around songs with warmth, optimism, and meaning — music that could celebrate love without becoming sentimental or predictable.

As both musician and designer, I developed the project from the inside out. The visual identity, photography, artwork, website, and digital presence were all created as extensions of the music itself: intimate, handmade, warm, and human.

There was no real separation between artist and designer here. The songs informed the visuals, the visuals helped shape the story, and the story gave the project its identity.

Folk & Love was less about building a brand around music and more about creating a place where a shared life, creative history, and a long-held dream could finally live together.
